Tom Daniel was the most prolific designer of wild model cars in the late 60s and early 70s. Millions of his kits were sold by Monogram Models with many of them having been reissued over the last ten years. I redesigned Tom's web site which you can enjoy by clicking here.

A part of 2001: A Model Car Odyssey was devoted to the work of Tom Daniel. As part of the display, I loaned the museum nine sealed original Tom Daniel show rod models. These are my most valuable and treasured kits in my 273-model car collection. In addition, I loaned my original Monogram collector cards to the display. See the collector cards here.

To the left: You might recognize some of these rare beauties. The most valuable are the Red Baron ('68), the Tijuana Taxi ('69), and Rommel's Rod ('69). Each of these original sealed kits are worth more than $300.

73 facts about 1973
Henry A. Kissinger (U.S.) and Le Duc Tho (North Vietnam) shared the Nobel Peace Prize. Le Duc Tho refused prize, charging that peace had not yet really been established in South Vietnam.

73 facts about the GTO

GTO model kits were a popular in the 60s as GTOs themselves. All major model manufacturers made plastic GTO models in 1/24 or 1/25 scale starting in 1965. Some kits have been reissued frequently since then. There are GTO model kits for all years except 1973 and 1974.

There was a special GTO "Funny Car" in the late 60s called "Mr. Unswitchable." It was wild! The original model kit, made by MPC, is extremely rare and valuable. I saw a mint one sell recently on Ebay for $588.78!!!! Oh Comon' prove it!
