I'm back
on the road and the car is still doing well. Things are still fine as
I'm popping CDs into my daughter's portable player and enjoying the ride.
The landscape reminds me of southwestern Wyoming. I was out there in 1980
as an ironworker in construction. It was quite barren, with sagebrush
and skinny Antelope.
To the
left: Coming up on my first tunnel, I guess I'm going under the Humbolt
River? Not sure.

facts about 1973
Lyndon Baines Johnson, former U.S. President, had
a heart-attack and died at his ranch in Texas. As the visionary of
the "Great Society", Johnson bullied congress to adopt a
far-reaching civil-rights bill, a voting-rights bill, a Medicare program
for the aged, and measures to improve education and conservation.
Congress also began what Johnson described as "an all-out war"
on poverty. |
