Is this the 1996 Corvette? To get that
answer, we'll just have to wait. But until then, we have the
incredible Sting Ray III. Known around General Motors simply
as "The Purple Car", this fluid, taut, little fiberglass
styling exercise maintains the Corvette's front/mid engine
location with a 330HP V8, but that power now drives through
a new 5 speed transaxle. This is a Corvette first. Huge
tires are mounted on 11 inch wide, 3 spoke aluminum wheels
Drilled oversize brakes are clearly visible .
The interior is resplendent with a
combination of grey suede and high-tech black carbon fiber.
The driver finds a comfortable home in one of the slickest
models ever designed. A pop-up roll bar is built in to the
two headrests. Concept car or future production
Corvette...either way you're looking at one of the most
exciting shapes and innovative engineering packages to ever
roll down an American highway.
