Speed
Shop Express
Chevy
Sedan Delivery
- Original year: 1998
- Company: Revell/Monogram
- Scale: 1/25
- Designer: Dean Milano (styling details)
Speed shops are usually owned and operated by dyed-in-the-wool
hot rodders, and hot rodders can never leave well enough alone. With
oodles of high performance power sitting on the shelves and a readily
available candidate vehicle, it's no wonder that the old shop truck
eventually gets "the treatment". Besides, what better way to chase parts
and advertise the shop than a tricked-out Chevy sedan delivery? The
Speed Shop Express is a hot-rodded "shoebox" Chevy with a hot 409 under
the hood, lowered suspension with billet wheels all around, and a slicked
up body with frenched headlights and taillights and optional louvers.
The 409 may be built with dual 4 barrel carburetors,
or, if you need to run very quick errands (perhaps of the quarter mile
variety), stick on the supercharger and headers. A bench seat or custom
bucket seats are supplied for the interior, and you can choose a 1953
or 1954 Chevy grille. Stylish speed shop graphics are provided for the
side panels, along with gauge decals, and even a hot rod club plaque
for the rear.

comments:
A wonderful
testament to all those shops over the years where these show rods and
radical customs were created. The speed shop was the place where all
the cutting, welding, bolting, and painting turned old metal into something
wild, crazy and fun! This special edition is one of 10,000 created.
