OK, first
note that MPC got the acronym wrong on the kit: They said "ISCA"
and it's really "ICAS". Geeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The International
Championship Auto Show circuit (ICAS) used a "point system"
for judging cars in customized auto shows around the country. In Bob
Laravee's book: "Showtime--The Story of the International Championship
Auto Shows and the hot rod custom car world", he relates that Chris
Lang won the ICAS championship in 1971 with this 1958 customized Corvette.
Chris received both a California vacation and a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner
to go with his trophies.
This 1972
kit was reissued in 1974. If you're a purist, don't buy the '74 reissue.
MPC totally redid the decal sheet and it's not even close to the authentic
graphics. Click on the image below to see a cool pic of this champion
show rod on display in 1971.
