'34 Ford Cabriolet
Customized '34 Ford Ragtop

  • Original year: 1998
  • Company: Revell/Monogram
  • Scale: 1/25
  • Designer: Thom Taylor

Thom Taylor has taken a '34 Ford Cabriolet and given it the "Taylor Touch", bringing the car into the nineties without losing the classic Ford styling cues that give it its character. Thom's '34 features a radically chopped windshield and a choice of a solid top or handsomely tapered convertible top with a stylish oval rear window, The body also features separate running boards and '39 Ford "teardrop" taillights, and two Taylor-designed graphics schemes are on the decal sheet: a high tech "streamer" scallop scheme, or a set of stylized flames.

The chassis features a dropped front axle with four-bar radius rods, a Ford 9-inch rear end with radius rods and coil-over shocks, and disc brakes that show through the thin-spoke custom wheels on all four corners. There's a typical Chevy small block under the 3-piece hood, with bullet style valve covers and air cleaner and dual exhaust.

Dave's comments:

Talk about a chopped rod! Who could possibly see through that sliver of a windshield? That chopped top and thick body give it a real mean, muscle-bound look.
