Mysterion 2005 (kitbash)

Built by: Paul Burke in Cotati, California

I started this project about 6 months ago. I wanted to do a retro Mysterion ever since I saw Little Daddy's new version, which I didn't really like much. But who the hell am I to judge. I figured I'd give it a go.

The body consists of the Cherry Bomb, Mysterion, Ala Kart, sheet styrene and plenty of Bondo. I then ground the car into The asymmetrical form you see.

The nose piece consists of parts of the bike trailer, cardboard and some Caddy fins. This too was ground into shape, primed and painted. I originally painted this a Chrome Allusion Green to Silver, but after a few days I changed my mind and went for a golden yellow pearl. I think this color shows the lines of the car better.

The Chassis is scratch built. The front clip is from the 32 Phaeton Vicky kit and a Jag rear end from the Revell Touring T. The motor is from the AMT 68 Chevy Impala. I used the Cherry Bomb bucket with some added parts from different kits.

Would Ed Roth have built this thing? I highly doubt it. But it's nice to dream in 3D.
