Munster Koach

Built by: Geoff Baylen in Oxnard, California

I Started my build by e-mailing Barris Kustom Ind. to find out if I could tour the shop (Barris Kustom is about 52 miles from my house) and see the Munster Koach. Joji Barris said OK and the next week I was sitting in the Koach and got to meet George Barris himself and I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do.

The first thing I did was lengthen the front end from the firewall forward and replaced the chassis and the front suspension with one from the Creepy T. The rear axle and leaf spring came from a '30 Ford Woody as did the skull shifter. The engine, wheels and tires are spare parts.

I scratch-built the air-intakes, headers and the armrest for Eddies perch. After removing the molded in curtains I replaced them with a ribbon that I found in a craft store. The carpet is black felt. The dark red flocking and Barris crest are from Detail Master.

The bottom half of the body is Model Master black and everything else is Tamiya matt black. The "gold chrome" is Tamiya clear yellow on chrome plating and the other two shades of gold are Tamiya gold leaf and Model Master. The rear doors is two shades of brown that was dry-brushed on.
