Gridiron Grabber

Built by: Jerry Glenzinski in Bradley, Illinois

I'm a huge football fan(as you can tell by our e-mail adress, "nflisus@hotmail.com".) Two and1/2 blocks down the the end of my street is the Chicago Bears training field even though I'm a huge Green Bay Packers fan (I painted the walls in my basement sports room into a replica of Lambeau Field!) I also rediscoverd my love of building show rods (Tom Daniel, etc..) Anyway, here is my description and pics of the model:

Are you ready for some football?? Here it is, the 1/20 scale GRIDIRON GRABBER--34 years old and still not ready to retire and hang up its cleats.

With a 426 Double Blown Hemi engine, "football" shaped radiator, lights, gas tank and shift knob, shoulder pad fenders and goal post wheelie wheel! This model really scores!

I was lucky to obtain this kit. I have always wanted one, and this one came with all the parts broken off the "trees" and the chrome parts were pretty beat up. Most of the kit comes in red plastic color, even the wheels which I used gloss black and flat black to give it a more realistic look.

I chrome-foiled the blower scoops.....which I don't know why the maker (MPC) didn't cast them in chrome to begin with? I wired the engine and also made a football field to display it on.

Resisting temptation to paint it in my favorite team's color, I chose to keep it in the original "box art" (See Dave's showroom of the boxed kit). I did paint the face guard gray to match the color of the era (1970). The kit came with the original decals but I chose not to use. Now it's on to "tackle" my next project.
