Garbage Truck

Built by: Mike McMahon in Palatine, Illinois

Garbage Truck (kit #6739). This is a 2000 reissue of the Garbage Truck. It was a fun kit to build and I really got into a 60s mood while I was building it. What a groovy and wild Tom Daniel design.

The cab is painted with three coats of Boyd's Sunburst to match the box art. I couldn't see painting the rear white so I painted it with three coats of Testors Flat Gull Grey. I think this provides a nice contrast.

The surfboards were sprayed with left over colors I had laying around. Panther Pink, Artic Blue Metallic, Italian Red and Sunburst. I really wanted to create a 60s theme so I the decorated the surfboards with flower decals from the Baja Bandito. I also used the "Love" decal inside the back.

The mirrors were chromed with metal foil. The band was fun to paint. Too bad there isn't a drummer. One of the guitar players reminds me of the late, great, John Entwistle.

GROOVY DUDE!
