This is an original Blue Beetle that I actually built way back in the 60's, it was in pretty bad shape when I found it, but everything was there!  The body was stained from what looked like cigarette smoke , the decals were flaking and the chrome was bad . 

After disassembling everything all of the parts were soaked in cleaner to remove the tobacco stains . Then the chrome parts were stripped and sprayed with Alcad Chrome over a blue base to give the appearance of 50 year old parts .  All of the blue plastic parts were polished and sprayed with clear . To finish it off I used a scan of the originals to make my own . 

The only thing I changed from stock was to modify the front axle for poseable steering , something I like to do with all of my models .  

Now this original Blue Beetle is better than new and looks right at home on my shelf !
