Like yourselves, I’ve seen a wide variety of build ups from this kit over the years but have never taken the time to try it until now. While I’ve built some wild creations, some models I want to preserve enough of the original to easily recognize the stocker so I made the effort to keep much of the original kit intact, I also kept the detailing minimal as possible as the original kit is very simple.
I used a front axle from my parts box, the one with the biggest drop I could find & mounted a straight axle on top of the frame in the rear, this is simple but effective.
Once lowered, I used wheels from the Revell 1957 Chevy snap kit. I also slightly shortened the pickup box & cut down the widow frame plus the stock top, you don’t need much to make a difference.
I liked when my old pal John Bissinger AKA “Rat Rod” added some body moldings to his Black Widow so I used that idea on mine (thanks John).
The engine block is from the kit but not without my Hizoot custom treatment including headers from a Revell sprint car. I cut the tonneau cover down to size & modified a 2nd top from my parts box, then sprayed it with custom mixed lacquers.
The decals came from Revell’s Big John Mazmanian 41 Willys.
This was a simple, fun build that didn’t take up much time to build & I glad to be a part of the long list of builders who have made this kit their own.
