One of my favorites as a kid, Tom Daniel's Beer Wagon. I built it in "kid mode" too, not painting the body but carefully painting the details. For the bands on the beer barrels, I used Bare Metal Foil, laying thin strips over the painted barrels, then rubbing the heck out of it with a toothpick (with the end sliced off an at angle). This makes them shiny. Finally, cut off the excess with an Exacto knife.
