AMTronic

Built by: Eric Grey in Palo Alto, California

The Amtronic is a crazy build! I lost count at about
25 hinged pieces! (To get a full summary of the
Amtronic, see Dave's page here
.) Needless to say, I had fit problems!

As an everyday driver, you could say it's not very practical. The front cockpit area seems pretty efficient, but the "cargo/passenger" section seems a little inefficient. A modern day minivan or SUV holds more people and more stuff. First it only holds four people and there is no obvious storage space.

The split-duty Amtronic was meant to be an urban wheel and tire vehicle (driving the front end) or an
inter-city high speed hovercraft type vehicle (with
back attached). It was the Disney-think futuristic utopia that will never happen. Oh well, that's no great loss.

I built it with a non-glossy finish just because I figure future urban vehicles will be like that. I frosted the windows because I figure the same thing--you can't see into most vehicles anyways these days.

Overall, this was a fun build because it was different and it had many challenges.
