Upon seeing this, people theorize that my 1973 GTO is somehow more valuable on the market (supply is low...so demand must be high!) I have found just the opposite to be true. The 66 and 67 models years seem to be the most valuable. I'm guessing this is because so many people owned them originally, plus there were so many second-owners of these cars. Plus, when one thinks of a "classic" GTO, these two model years, with their classic venturi styling and stacked headlights, are what most people remember--and desire! To the left: Note how it drops like a stone after 1970. You may wish to supersize this chart to get a better look. |

facts about the GTO
The hood tachometer first appeared on the 1967 GTO. While giving the appearance of being a practical location, it was actually difficult to maintain because of condensation on the inside of the lens and, being a delicate instrument, subjected to frequent slams from the closing of the hood. Still, it was a status symbol the identified the owner as a person who understood the value of driving and shifting by RPM. The hood tach was an option through the 1971 model year. Show me one |
